We have news of two charity activities too. Do you fancy testing out your palate at a Wine and Cheese ‘Call My Bluff’ evening, or is a music festival and sleeping out under the stars more your sort of thing? Read on to find out more.

Wanted: Stories of Courage

We all have a story to tell, and Samantha Houghton of Leicester’s B2B group is looking for contributions to a second book of short stories, Courage: Stories of Darkness to Light Volume 2, to support mental health charity LAMP.

The book will comprise fourteen individual stories of real life struggles with mental and emotional health, to inspire others in their own journeys.

This is a fully-supported online group project, with writing and mindset guidance.

There is a small investment to cover book creation and publication but all sale proceeds are donated to LAMP. This is a great opportunity to share your story, become a published author and help to inspire others through your own story!

If you’d like to find out more, or apply to have your story included, please contact Sam via her website.

Wine and Cheese Quiz

The Wetherby B2B Group has chosen Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, as its charity of the year.

Wooden Spoon is delighted to be teaming up with Barry Groves, owner of Yorkshire Wine Rascal, for a Wine and Cheese ‘Call My Bluff’ quiz evening, with all proceeds going to support Wooden Spoon’s work in Yorkshire.

Barry (pictured above, ‘working hard’ in a New Zealand vineyard), will introduce participants to six wines and six accompanying cheeses. Each wine and cheese will be described three times; teams need to work out when Barry is bluffing and which description matches the wine or cheese.

If you fancy an evening combining a fun quiz and plenty of wine and cheese – all to support disadvantaged children across Yorkshire – why not come and join in?

The event will take place at Wetherby Golf Club on Friday 7th June at 7.00pm. Tickets are £25 each. For more information or to purchase tickets, please email Stuart.

‘Music for the Homeless’ Festival

Lynne Urpeth, of the Sheffield B2B group, represents the Cathedral Archer Project (CAP). Based in Sheffield, CAP works with homeless adults, taking them from sleeping bag to employment, and an enjoyable and fulfilling life.

On Saturday 8th June, at Don Valley Bowl, CAP is hosting a music festival and sleep out. And Music for the Homeless isn’t just an evening of great music and entertainment – it’s a chance for people to gain an insight into what life is like for people forced to sleep rough, for whom this is, sadly, not a one-off experience.

Once the bands have finished for the night, you can sleep out under the stars – you just need to raise a minimum of £50 per person. For an additional £25, you can reserve a space to pitch your own tent.

If you’d be interested in sponsoring the event, please email Lynne, or call her on (0114) 321 2317.

Tickets for the music festival are available on the festival’s website, and you can register here for the sleep-out.
